In the late 1800s, The Reverend Charles Daniel Helm brought two dogs to his mission at Hope Fountain near Bulawayo, in south-west Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). These two bitches were to become the foundation of the Rhodesian Ridgeback of today. > more
The original standard was drafted by F R Barnes, in Bulawayo, Rhodesia, in 1922, was based on that of the Dalmatian and was approved by the South African Kennel Union in 1926. We detail here the version supported by KUSA and the FCI 10/12/96.
These notices consist of very concise recommendations covering various important matters we felt had to be dealt with to assist the novice breeder without covering the matter in full detail.
